Bio Bubble-How Effective it is in Protecting our Players
How does one conduct a sports tournament during a pandemic? Is it practically possible to conduct one without risking any of the players? The answer is Yes and the Bio bubble is the main reason why we can conduct a tournament or any other event without risking anyone’s safety.
So what is the bio bubble exactly? Is it an actual bubble kind of structure or is it some kind of restricted zone? To be specific, the bio bubble is termed a biosecure environment where the safety of everyone is taken care of. Some of the characteristics of a bio bubble are given below.
- Restricted Movement of Players: When a team gets stationed at a hotel, the team cannot breach the perimeters of the hotel or resort. Similarly, during practice sessions, the players can only move inside a restricted limit of the practice area. Even during matches, the teams must follow a certain path and cannot go into areas where they aren’t permitted to go. Breach of the perimeters by any player may lead to serious fines or suspensions depending upon the rules of the tournament conducting committee.
- Spectator fewer Matches: One of the key elements of a big bubble is the empty stadiums. This is to prevent the crowds from interacting with the players and other team members. Though many of the leagues still prefer spectator fewer matches, some leagues and countries have started allowing spectators to come to the stadiums and watch the matches.
- Self Quarantine and isolation: Whenever a player or team travels from place to place, they may have to quarantine themselves for a period of time depending on the country or place you come from. Different countries have different rules regarding quarantining. Some countries also conduct tests upon arrival, depending upon which country you come from.
With stadiums being empty and no one to cheer the players, the broadcasters and tournament organizers have put in innovative ideas to restore the stadium atmosphere. Stadium speakers are used to playing the crowd cheers and applause sounds to create a virtual crowd and keep up the lively spirit of the players.
