Ginsburg’s death affected the Jewish community and women voters
Ruth Bader Ginsburg was an American jurist who was an associate with the justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 until her death in 2020. Nominated by President Bill Clinton. She was the second woman to serve on the U.S Supreme Court, after Sandra Day O’Connor. At the time of her death, she would become the oldest Supreme Court justice and the most senior of the liberal justices.
In her 27 years on the court, in writing majority opinions and dissents she showed support for gender equality, women’s right, same-sex marriage, strengthening the Voting Rights…
She already fought cancer twice already but when for treatment form a fall back in 2018 and broke three of her ribs led the doctors to discover that she has cancer for the third time which ultimately led to her death due to complications in her pancreatic cancer.
In hours of death news broke, mourners gather around the Supreme Court to pay their respect to this Great Women with candles and flowers.
Since her death was on a Jewish holiday of where they welcome the new year according to the Hebrew calendar. Her death at the end of the year of there is of great significance as one of the themes of the holiday is that a very righteous person would die as they will be needed till the very end, also those who die on the new year holiday are considered “tzadik” a title was given to the righteous and saintly.
Women voters have always been considered an important part of the election, which is supposed to be held on November 3. The loss of this liberal leaves the high court split between five conservatives and three liberals.
For Republicans, it is a once in a lifetime chance to abolish the constitutional right to abortion and for Democrats, it was a new, urgent reason to vote Trump out of the office in a tenure which js marked by a pandemic, economic unrest, and protest over racial discrimination.
A supporter of Trump claims that it’s a golden opportunity for conservatives. Another support Joe Biden claims that if Trump’s wins, things are not going to change for a long time, also adds that we are only going to go backward and not any way forward. This is a huge wake-up call.
We will see the result of the election on November 3 but the death of Ginsburg has impacted both the Jewish and female voters.
