Music Therapy

A Rhythmic arrangement of words, sounds, or tones which also involves the feeling of that sound according to occasions is called Music. 

From birth to death music plays a big role. For the baby’s sleep, the mother sings a lullaby. That song makes the baby sleep very calmly. When one goes to school firstly poems are taught. Children sing that poem with great joy. Most of them don’t know the meaning of that song but they get to learn to it due to its musical arrangement. Every day in schools starts with the singing prayers together to bring freshness to the school. Many students can study only if there is music playing in their earphones. Many of them learn all there answers in a rhythm. Just tapping on an object can make music. And playing it on any musical instrument is plenty of enjoyment. Really how soothing music is!

A day in a village starts with the chirping of birds. There are many sounds in the atmosphere if we hear it attentively. At night due to different sounds made by different animals as well as insects makes a tone. The wind blows with some sound and it also comes in music. Many poets say that “The Wind is singing”.The rustling of leaves creates the song.  When water flows from rocks it also creates some musical sounds. These all form the music; music by nature!

Music doesn’t need any language. Many times we like listening to songs or music from a language we never know. But we can feel it whether it is happy or sorrowful. We can understand that song, that music by listening to it without knowing it’s meaning. A movie without songs or any music can’t give a feel that a movie full of music can give. Playing videogames with its background music takes us to that world. If we mute the sound when any horror scene is going on TV  and just see the scene; it can’t fear you, which is done with the music only!

Music is a great feeling but, if it sounds very very high which seems to break the ears then it creates the noise. So we should always take care of that music should not get converted into noise.

In our joyous events playing music creates the whole atmosphere full of joy. Dancing with music is not only the fulfillment of the soul but also a good exercise of the body. Some people like to play music in their sorrows. In stressful situations listening to music gives a calmness and helps to regain ourselves. Music is the best way to reduce tension.

There is music therapy that works on people suffering from depression or anxiety. Music therapy is the use of music to address the physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of a group or individual. It employs a variety of activities, such as listening to melodies, playing an instrument, drumming, writing songs, and guided imagery.

Seventeenth-century English dramatist William Congreve was way ahead of his time when he wrote, “Music has charms to soothe the savage beasts, to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak.”

I would just like to say “listen to music and enjoy your life.”
