Schools without teachers sound interesting but what it actually does! Let’s take a look.
A BIG CHANGE FOR THE TEACHERS:
Due to the outbreak of coronavirus and global concerns of social distancing, the role of teachers has gained high significance. Now teachers came prepared with a video lecture or make presentations for substituting the blackboard education. The online mode of education has provided many tools to the teachers and improved their technical knowledge as well. Live video conferencing has emerged as the best option. Every teacher has his/her teaching style. But if it has no creativity, getting the attention of students is a huge task. Online or virtual learning does not ensure the attentiveness of the students. Does it affect their teaching skills in any way?
A BIG CHANGE FOR THE STUDENTS:
Students along with their teachers entered the new era of the virtual world. If we consider the young generation, they are usually well versed with this digital world but yes, not merely for EDUCATION. E-learning is the new normal in the present context of COVID-19. As the educational institutes are shut, online learning is the only option left with the students. But they have a thousand different ways of learning digitally. It can be an e-book, a video lecture, or a Wikipedia document. A lecture from their school or college teacher is usually not the one. Does this affect their learning skills in any way?
YES, IT DOES!
It is the teacher who acts as a Learning Facilitator of the young minds and guides them. A lesson from a teacher can never be replaced by the one learned digitally. Human interaction is the key to scratch the young and curious minds and guides their steps. A four-year child doesn’t know what education is unless he/she is told to wish ‘good morning’ with a smile to his/her teacher. Yes, you read it right! Respect and gratitude are the stepping stones for education.
The academic curriculum can be downloaded and grasped very easily but teachers are competent in their subjects and pace-setters of standards by developing meaningful human relationships even through the online education portal. They have an aptitude for teaching and capable of understanding several faces of a child.
Ethical and moral values, awareness of the significance of our heritage and culture, our spirit of pluralism and oneness, the inculcation of scientific temper, patriotism, and a sense of mission — all these need to be nurtured in young minds by our teachers through online education.
The teacher is the real custodian of values that he/she gives to the students. The responsibility of training youths depends on teachers and parents. Teachers have to raise the tone of academic life in the country through online education. And this would only be accomplished with the combined efforts of teachers and students.
LEARN FROM YOUR TEACHER AND POLISH THROUGH TECHNOLOGY….not only skills but also values.
