TED Talk with Shah Rukh Khan: Love, Humanity and Compassion

TED always organizes a Talk conference that is a common platform for sharing knowledge. This time on April 27, 2017 in Vancouver, Canada TED invited the biggest movie star of India and most famous movie star of the world as per Forbes. Yes this TED Talk event was hosted by Mr. Shah Rukh Khan, a funny, charming and insightful host said by TED.

Shah said “I’m a movie star. I’m 51 years of age. I sell dreams and I peddle love to millions of people back home in India, who assume I’m the best lover in the world.” But instead all of these at conference from audience hardly few people knew who he is. Yes, it happened to a movie star that makes a bit more money than Tom Cruise in 2014. One who is ‘King of the Bollywood’ was nothing to those Canadian audiences.

But being taking it as a negative thing, he enjoy being anonymous in the crowd. Shah Rukh said with a humorous laughter “Lots of you haven’t seen my work, and I feel sad for you. That does not take away the fact that is am completely self-obsessed, as a movie star should be.”

On humanity he said “Humanity is a lot like me. It is an aging movie star, grappling with newness around it, wondering whether it got is right in the first place and still trying to find a way to keep on shining regardless.”

By going through time of his young adulthood in parallel to humanity where he was born during his father’s death when he was 14, he learned the survival. By becoming the first Bollywood star to step on the TED stage, he shared his experience of life, about his survival and told that if you want a better future you, you should believe in present you. “The present you is brave. The present you is hopeful. The present you is innovative and resourceful. And, of course, the present you is annoyingly indefinable. The future you, has to be like an aging movie star, who has been made to believe that there is a possibility of a world which is completely, wholly, self-obsessively in love with itself.”, he said.

Grace and compassion these two ability resides a country, a religion, a culture, a human being and dignity of life. Shah Rukh Khan explained that ‘Love is the emotion that keeps you alive, it inspires you for building a new you, it keeps you from falling and it is perhaps oldest and simplest emotion known to mankind.
