Five Dead, Small Plane Crashes into Yorba Linda home

Five people were killed when a small airplane crashed into a single-family house close to Anaheim, California, on Sunday. Orange County sheriff’s Lt. Cory Martino said Sunday night the airplane, a little Cessna, crashed into the home in Yorna Linda at about 1:45 pm soon after takeoff. Martino serves as police chief in the city of Yorba Linda, about 10 miles northeast of Anaheim.

A little plane slammed to a two-story home in Yorba Linda on Sunday, killing five people including the pilot and developing a scene as neighbors ran out to discover the house on fire and pieces of their aircraft. Two women and two men were killed in the home that was burning, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department confirmed. The pilot was the plane’s sole occupant.

Two other people were taken to a hospital with moderate to moderate burns, said fire Capt. Cameron Rossman, a spokesman for the Orange County Fire Authority. A firefighter suffered a minor ankle injury, ” he explained. Radar demonstrates that the plane began its descent 10 miles to the trip and took a left turn after takeoff, National Transportation Safety Board investigator Eliott Simpson stated at an evening news conference.

The main cabin of the airplane landed behind someone’s house, according to officials. Delivered into a storage facility in Phoenix to be examined and is predicted to be retrieved by Monday, Simpson stated.

Elliot Simpson, an aviation accident investigator for the National Transportation Safety Board, took away from nearby Fullerton at approximately 1:35 p.m.. The airplane climbed to approximately 7,800 ft and then “started a rapid descent,” he said. Colette Craig of Anaheim was pushing toward Corona on the 91 Freeway when she watched the plane — which she stated was roughly three miles off –“burst into flames.” Another witness, Brittany Drake, said she initially believed the “giant ball of fire” might be Super Bowl-related.
