Top Achievements That SpaceX has Accomplished

Around the world, you will find many space agencies like SpaceX, NASA, ISRO, etc. which are government-funded agencies. In 2002, Elon Musk founded SpaceX in order to explore new planets and outer space. Musk is a billionaire businessman, entrepreneur, scientist, and also is the owner of the electric vehicle company, Tesla Motors.Inc. Since its inception in 2002, SpaceX has gone on to achieve many great accomplishments in the field of space voyages. Moreover, it isn’t government-funded and is an independent enterprise, which makes it even more special. We will look at some of the achievements in this article.

Astronaut Mission – Demo 2: On 30th May 2020, SpaceX launched two NASA and American astronauts to the International Space Station (ISS), aboard the Crew Dragon Endeavour Spacecraft from Cape Canaveral Launch site. The mission was known as Demo-2 with astronauts, Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley taking a flight to the ISS. After spending 63 days on the ISS the spacecraft returned back, and successfully ended the Demo-2 mission. This mission was special for the US as it was the first time in 9 years that astronauts were being launched from US soil aboard a US spacecraft.

Reusable Rockets: One of the great developments in Space technology is the re-usage of rocket parts. SpaceX created history by reusing the rocket booster in their successive missions, not once, but twice. They launched the Falcon 9 rocket and reused the booster successfully in another mission. This helps in reducing the overall costs of space missions which can further help in promoting cheaper commercial space travel and transportation missions.

Tesla Car in Orbit: This was an eye-catching event when SpaceX sent a car into space. In 2018, a Tesla Roadster model red car was sent into space aboard the Falcon Heavy rocket. The car is still floating in space and sends back information and footage. This was a pretty weird launch as not many people have launched a car into space before this.
