Champions League Quarter Final 2019: English Club Will Face Each Other

Champions League

Tottenham Hotspur fan were sad and tensed at same time because they knew that this match can send their team direct to home form the journey of Champions League but it turned out, it was not their ending. The whole match turned and now they have knocked out the other team. Also another English club, Manchester United, have shown that they are also not going home by tying the match with PSG with aggregate of 3-3.

The First Leg of Champions League:

Schalke 2-3 Manchester City

Sergio Aguero got the scoring underway in their first leg but shortly after Schalke were awarded two penalties with one coming from Nicolas Otamendi for handling the ball after VAR review and the second from Fernandinho’s foul on Salif Sane which Nabil Bentaleb was able to convert to make the score 2-1.

Not much changed in the second half until Leroy Sane was awarded a free kick outside the penalty box which the German striked perfectly to equalise the score and then a 90th minute goal from Raheem Sterling to put Man City ahead 3-2.

Atletico Madrid 2-0 Juventus

Atletico were denied a potential two goals prior to winning 2-0 with the first coming from a penalty decision being overturned by VAR after it was decided Diego Costa was fouled outside the box. Then VAR disallowed Alvaro Morata’s goal after it was decided that the Spanish star had committed a foul himself in the build up to his goal.

Eventually, Jose Giminez was able to break the deadlock with 78th minute goal followed by another goal in the 83rd minute from defender Diego Godin.

Liverpool 0-0 Bayern Munich

Jurgen Klopp’s men were left frustrated by Bayern as the German’s defence was strong and organised allowing little opportunities throughout the game for the Reds which saw Sadio Mane miss a handful of chances.

The closest Liverpool came to a goal was from Mane’s header in the near post in the 85th minute.

Lyon 0-0 Barcelona

Despite 25 shots Barcelona were unable to score against Lyon with only 5 shots on actual target.

Lionel Messi, Philippe Coutinho and Luis Suarez were all denied by Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes with Barca’s keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen having to make two spectacular saves to deny the French side.

Who will be in the draw?

  • Manchester United
