The fantastic news? Those consoles were dead — if they failed to sign into Xbox Live, they just froze up. Unfortunately, that usually means the same consoles needed to live in a state of limbo until Microsoft got Xbox Live straight up and running. Microsoft says it is working composing on Twitter that its engineers have recognized the origin.
Sure enough, most users on Twitter are currently reporting that the situation was fixed for them, advising others to reboot the machine log into their Xbox Live accounts and to get past the screen — but a few people are still having trouble. If you are still having difficulty, some have managed to coax the console whenever they disable their Wi-Fi router or disconnect the console from Ethernet.
The relatively quick fix for your outage of Microsoft is reassuring, however, it will raise some questions. Historically, consoles finally see their services shuttered, which impacts them in various ways. The first Xbox lost access to online services years ago, and just this week, Nintendo shuttered the Wii Shop. If anything, the episode of today demonstrates that the Xbox One may not be ready to get a future that is disconnected.
