Facebook Messenger now lets you unsend messages, if you act within 10 minutes

Ever say something over Facebook Messenger you instantly repent? At this point, you might have the ability to take it back. After appearing a year ago, Facebook on Tuesday announced that it has begun rolling out the feature to its apps for Android and iOS. Similar to deleting messages from a dialog on Facebook-owned WhatsApp or even Instagram, to delete a message from one or group chat you merely must tap the one that you would like to eliminate, press delete and select the option labeled “delete for everybody.”

Unlike the “unsend” feature in Instagram’s direct messages, however, you will only have 10 minutes from when you send the message Facebook Messenger to delete it from the chat for both parties. Very similar to WhatsApp’s delete feature, the removed message will be substituted with a line of text saying that you “eliminated a message”

After that 10-minute period lapses, you can delete messages, but it is going to only be for your side of this dialog. The person or group you’re chatting with will see what you sent.

Facebook initially announced it would be incorporating the “unsend” feature for everybody last April after it was disclosed that messages CEO Mark Zuckerberg had delivered to other users were removed from the consumers’ inboxes while old messages that those users sent Zuckerberg were still there.

Of course, until it’s possible to remove it if the other person screenshots or sees your message there is not any way to take that back.
