Tulsi is a herb with lots of medicinal uses. Its scientific name is Ocimum tenuiflorum and it is native in the Indian subcontinent and widespread as a cultivated plant throughout the Southeast Asian tropics. It’s another name is Basil. In India, the Tulsi plant is considered a holy plant and seen in every household. In the Hindu religion Tulsi is said as ‘Goddess Laxmi ‘and ‘Sun as God Vishnu‘ And people say they can’t live without one another! Because a plant needs sunlight to grow.

Let’s see the benefits of tulsi plant:

Tulsi is another name in the list of plants that give out oxygen at night. The leaves of tulsi emit a characteristic scent that can soothe nerves and help reduce anxiety. Having a tulsi plant in the home, balcony, or near the window allows you to sleep better at night.

Holy basil supports normal bronchial lung function. For cough, asthma, sneezing, headache, fever taking tulsi leaves extract with 2 drops of honey 3 times a day is a good home remedy.

Tulsi supports normal adrenal function and cortisol levels. Cortisol regulates metabolism and the immune response. It also has a very important role in helping the body respond to stress.

Tulsi is used in many skin ointments. For small wounds, pimples, black spots, exima, sorosis, skin infections applying tulsi extract is beneficial.

Basil supports normal blood pressure. The presence of the antioxidant eugenol in tulsi leaves not only helps in upping the low blood pressure levels but also lowers blood cholesterol levels.

Tulsi supports normal liver functions and a normal immune system. Also very effective in improving the digestive system. Drinking tulsi drops in water in the morning removes detoxifies the blood.

Tulsi is diaphoretic, antiperiodic, stimulating, expectorant andante-catarrhal. It is full of vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, ßeta keratin, Potassium, Manganese, Iron, Calcium and omega-3  fatty acids, antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-allergic properties.

For cancer taking the 2 drops of extract of tulsi leaves of all types+1 glass, buttermilk can make some difference.

As we know Due to the uncountable health benefits Tulsi has, it is considered as the ‘Golden remedy of Ayurveda’.But it has some side effects on us.

Side effects of Tulsi plant:

Tulsi is not suitable for a pregnant woman. The herb, due to the presence of estragole in it, may cause uterus contractions that may be dangerous.

If someone is already taking medicines for diabetes eats tulsi then it can reduce very much blood sugar level.

Tulsi has an adverse effect if, with tulsi, tablets are consumed in order to have blood thinning.

It may cause damage to the liver, According to people who are on medications like acetaminophen (pain reliever) have a greater risk of liver damage if they consume the holy basil regularly.

The studies proved that Tulsi may lower sperm count, decrease the weight of reproductive organs such as testes, adrenal glands, prostate, uterus, and ovary. Its ability to modulate reproductive hormones is the reason behind the antifertility effect it has.

And the most important is Tulsi leaves have iron which may stain your teeth when chewed. You should simply gulp them down to avoid discoloration of your teeth.

You should take benefits of tulsi with knowing it’s side effects.
