How to Celebrate Galentine’s The Leslie Knope Way

The iconic party is an unofficial holiday that takes place on Feb. 13, the day before Valentine’s Day. Its whole premise is that women forget about significant others or their husbands, boyfriends for the day– and only concentrate on observing the women. In spite of the popular criticism that Galentine’s Day patronizes single women, uplift and the celebration is meant to be a reminder for girls, and a day of empowerment to encourage one another.

It is about “women observing women,” as Poehler’s personality, Leslie Knope, would place it.

I forgive you for believing Galentine’s Day is a made-up holiday made solely to sell stuff and for Instagram if you are not a Parks and Rec enthusiast. But no, that’s what Valentine’s Day is for, idiotic. Galentine’s Day, on the other hand, is the very best day of the year, created by the one and only Leslie Knope (and all the authors on Parks and Rec, obvs).

In the event, you want some advice on how best to invest this magical February 13, here is Leslie’s three-step method.

Gather all your friends

Galentine’s Day is a day to celebrate friendship, as its name implies. It takes place every year also it’s become something of a holiday because the episode of the first Galentine aired in 2010. In an interview with LAist, Amy Poehler said this of this holiday her character created: “From subverting the expectation of Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day informs you that the women in your life are often the truest and greatest loves.”

Gather friends and family, along with your mother, and your colleagues, and whomever else you want and like to drink wine within 1 area. Balloons are discretionary but obviously encouraged.

Exchange presents

Listen, I am not saying you need to buy anything more expensive or move as far down the DIY hole as Leslie–she gave out hand-crocheted flower pins, mosaic portraits created from every person’s favorite diet pop, and personalized essays of her friends are awesome. However, a card or batch of biscuits is always appreciated.

Eat all the food!

Put aside your mails and go to town on some breakfast for dinner, okay? There’s no time and you are never too old to douse as Leslie has taught us stated breakfast at cream. If you’ve obtained a (heart-shaped) waffle manufacturer and need to create brunch at home, even better. Make the mimosas, wine, and cocktails prepared if you are making this a boozy Galentine’s Day. As for dessert alternatives, pick up some of those million foods that are heart-shaped or candies in shops, or make one of our Valentine’s Day-themed desserts under.
