Sportsmen: Some All Time Greatest Sportsmen
Across the globe, you would find that each region has a different variety of sports played or followed over there. You go to Europe, you would find a taste and love for football. You go to North America, you would find baseball and American soccer to be very popular over there. You look at South Asia and you would see that cricket is followed in huge numbers. Across this variety of sports, there have a number of sportsmen who have contributed a lot and achieved the tag of a legend in their respective fields. We will look at some of the great sportsmen who are synonymous with the sports they play.
Roger Federer: Perhaps the best tennis player the sport has ever seen, Roger Federer still continues to dominate the grand slams. He is still at the top of the list of people who have the maximum number of grand slams with 20 in his bag. He is known as the king of grass as he has won the most number of Wimbledon titles. Though he is comparatively older than his rivals, Federer still manages to reach the penultimate and final rounds of the tournaments. His previous grand slam win came in the 2018 Australian Open where he beat Marin Cilic to secure the title.
Lionel Messi: Leo Messi is sometimes known as a magician on the football field. He belongs to the league of the greats of football and is arguably the greatest footballer of all time. He’s known for his on-field rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo, who too has an outstanding record. Messi is the record holder for the most number of Ballon D’ Or with 6 in his kitty. For Barcelona, Messi has been a stalwart with multiple records and trophies to his name while playing for the team.
Michael Jordan: Michael Jordan is one the greatest sportsmen of all time because of his contribution to basketball and NBA. He has won many trophies and medals while representing the United States and has also been a star for the Chicago Bulls, winning the NBA title 6 times with them. He has also been given the Most Valuable Player in NBA award five times. He is seen as the greatest player to have played basketball in the history of the sport. Not only is he a great athlete but also has the combination of the right skills like pace and improvisation.
