ABOUT THE TOPIC

National pollution control day is celebrated every year on December 2nd to raise awareness among people regarding the problem of increasing pollution in society and also to show respect towards those thousands of people who had died in the Bhopal Gas Tragedy in 1984. The Bhopal Gas Tragedy or Bhopal disaster took place on the night of 2-3 December in 1984 when a gas leaked in the Union Carbide India Limited pesticide plant due to which more than 5 lakh people were exposed to one of the most dangerous gases i.e. Methyl Isocyanate (MIC) gas. As mentioned in the official records of the Madhya Pradesh Government, around 3,788 people were killed in the gas release and 5,74,366 people who were injured in the incident had experienced severe injuries. The day was later marked as National Pollution control day to create awareness among people about air, water and t educate people on how to reduce the risk or to manage industrial disasters.

The main reason behind celebrating this day every year is to educate or teach people how they can control or manage the industrial disasters and also to create awareness among people and to make them realize the importance of air, water, in our lives and pollution control acts so that all can try to prevent pollution like water pollution, air pollution, etc.

The theme of the day for this year will be the same as other years i.e. to educate the people about the importance of controlling pollution and how one can control the increasing pollution.

CONCLUSION

From the above, we can conclude that one should always try to reduce the risk of such disasters or pollution because it is life-threatening and can kill a large number of people.
